The best bluegill lake in the world.
Thanks! Share it with your friends!
True but, this lake is a managed lake and we have a simple philosophy. “A 2lb bluegill can’t become a 3lb bluegill from the comfort of a frying pan.”
^ would of had a good amount of meat
Why didnt u keep your bluegill to fillet? they are good eating and they size u were catching you eould of had a good amount of meat
shit balls man. those are big bluegills
that is a sick blue gill I never seen one like that before what did it feel like when you where fighting it
I grew up fly fishing. It’s awesome fighting those things on a 5wt.
I love gill fishing have you ever tried fly fishing I think you would have blast on that lake with a 2 or 3wt and a popper
Do a Google search for The Kingfisher Society and you’ll get all the info you need on this lake.
what lake is this?
Thanks, The Rod is a Shimano UL and the reel is a cheep Abu Garcia.
Unbelievable gills! By the way, I like that rod and reel. Mine me asking what kind they are?
amen to that
Turns out he is using barbless hooks, I had not considered that. Makes sense in that case. No harm done. Sometimes tone does not translate in online comments.
I wasn’t trying to start a fight. Sorry if my comment came off like that. Still a two pound bluegill fights better than just about any bass.
kevin van dam releases bass the same way when he catches small ones…
Where in my post exactly did I say I was “outraged”? I was joking with him, he took it waaaaay better then you did.
You’re outraged about a guy using a net on a 2lb bluegill with 4 lb fluoro… People are using nets on 2lb bass when they’re using 50 pound test! Makes sense if you don’t think about it.
Hey what u used for fishing bluegill give me information pplease
@flukemstr thanks man, ill try it
sorry man I was on my way out the door. It is a 1/16 oz yellow and black Roadrunner. Nothing to special. I did remove the barb after the first couple of fish to make removing the hook faster.
@flukemstr can you be more specific?
what bait are you using?
You ain’t kidding. I’m tired of seeing 3/4lb bluegill passed off as 2lbs. It drives me crazy.
ok finally somebody on youtube with good blue gill. Everybody else tries to pass a 7 incher off as massive.
I’d be eating those fish. Bluegill is the best.
I’m gonna have to find a pic of that one. That has got to be a cool looking chunk. All of our 3lb+ bluegill have been right at 14 inches. Do a search on Google images for Richmond Mill Lake and you can see some of the bruisers that have come out or little slice of heaven. Thanks for your comment.
Curiosity got the best of me, so I had to go in search. I too, have caught some monster Gills. This video left me speechless. I bet you were in Heaven here. ….. The record was in Illinois in 1987. It was 3 lb 8 oz, and measured 13.75″. Darren May was the fella’s name.
i caught that as well but failed to mention….. good fishing man. wish the bluegills were like that here.
Fair enough….that makes sense, I was just pulling your chain. Nice fish.
Barbless and 4lb test line.
Yep, I understand but it’s a rule on this lake. We take care of our fish so they can live to be caught another day. That net protects their slime coat.
funny, but i think hes using a barbless hook. doesnt want to risk not landing them…i could e wrong. i thought the same thing at first
